Short description:

The first Anna Ball was held in honour of János Fülöp Horváth Szentgyörgyi's daughter Anna-Krisztina on 26 July 1825 in Balatonfüred. According to tradition, this was the day when she met her future husband, the future martyr of Arad, the General Ernő Kiss. Since then, the Anna Ball, held on the Saturday closest to Anna's Day, has become one of the country's most exclusive events, a summer meeting place for artists, politicians and public figures. During the reform era, Lajos Kossuth, István Széchenyi, Miklós Wesselényi, Mór Jókai, Blaha Lujza and Mihály Vörösmarty were all welcome guests. Since 1962, Jenő Huszka's Anna Ball waltz has been the opening dance, the winner of the beauty contest and her courtiers receive a Herend vase, and the ball queen also receives the golden apple of Eris.

Az érték a Hungarikum törvény 114/2013. (IV. 16.) Kormányrendelet a magyar nemzeti értékek és hungarikumok gondozásáról III. sz. mellékletének Hungarikum Bizottsághoz történő felterjesztésével és elbírálása által került a Hungarikumok Gyűjteményébe.
