„Mohácsi busójárás” a masked end-of-winter tradition
Short description:
Busó festivities have been a tradition of Croat minority in Mohács for centuries; they are a typical example of European end-of-winter, spring-awaiting fertility festivities. Busós wear woolly cloaks, a loose-fittingm pair of pants, leather moccasins and knotty stockings. They also have a wooden busó mask with a hood to protect their incognito while they try to drive away winter with their sound-making devices. This is a living folk tradition shaped by the inhabitants of Mohács.
